The Blessings

In Genesis 1:22, we have God’s first blessing, the fertility of life. God blessed them when He spoke the words, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.” God goes on to bless all sentient life.

Bless can mean different things, but here it means fruitfulness, the power of reproduction. They became life-giving. God gave them life and now they are able to pass on that life. That is a divine blessing from a divine origin.

My heart saddens for those who want children, but can not have their own. But maybe, God has put an extra amount of love in your heart to adopt. There are so many children that need a deeper love. And should this love stop with just one child?

In Psalm 127:5 these words appear; “How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them (children); They shall not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies at the gate.”

I heard a sermon in the 1980’s, that there would be five arrows in a quiver. So that is five children. Now, a respectable woman would not be at the gate, so I assume, this would be the sons. So five sons plus whatever daughters you had before or between the five sons. I failed here. I had five daughters.

Who was at the gate? Sons, who were judges. Judges were at the gate and they defended people. So the sons were to defend their father (parents) from their enemies.

How do we apply this to today’s world? Could it mean, we need to fill our quiver with enough children to care for us in our old age. Then the burden would not be on just one or two children. Now having one doctor and one lawyer in the children would be an added blessing.

I am so blessed that my children would fight over who would take care of me. They all want to do so. For the present though, my Lord Jesus Christ and my husband will take care of me.

Genesis 1:20-25

Then God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.”

And God created, the great sea monsters, and every living creature that moves, with which the water swarmed after their kind; and God saw that it was good.

And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.

Then God said “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind; cattle and creeping things and beast of the earth after their kind” and it was so.

And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

On the fifth day, God created the creatures of the sea and the air. Creatures of the deep were worshiped in the ancient world. Even the beast of the air and land as in Egypt. We can marvel at God’s creation for it shows a dim version of His glory, but we are never to worship the creation. We are only to worship the Creator.

In verse 24, God had the earth bring forth living creatures. This is the second creative act in which God finished creating the animals. Here the word create is sometimes translated soul which implies having a conscious life. Now plants do not have a conscious life, although they respond to music, fertilizer, and so forth.

Many years ago, I heard a pastor say that the soul is “the seat of emotions”. To me, that is logical. Animals have fear, happiness, contentment, and so forth. This, I am thankful for. I love my dog and horses and our interaction with each other.

A DAY

Photo by an unknown. Maybe from a telescope or satellite. It was forward to me years ago.

I would like to make note of what the word day means here in Genesis 1. With passages noting evening and morning, why not take a literal interpretation?

In Exodus 20:11, Moses said, “For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day,” therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy. A day in Moses’s time was 24 hours. This verse would have read differently if it was 1000 years for one day, for example.

II Peter 3:8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. This verse is talking about Christ’s return being delayed for an indefinite period of time.

Where these different times are entertained, in general, is when man tries to integrate the theory of evolution. They lack scientific proof. They say, “This connects to this. We just have not found it yet. But we know it is out there.

How can people think that God can not do something in a 24-hour period? Beloved, God is infinite and all-powerful. There is no limit.

Now, I may be able to cook and think about something else while cooking, but God is not limited. He may be able to do and think of many things at once in less than a second. When God created, He did not create this one little thing and then this one thing. God created in abundance. Reread Genesis 1. The first thing God created that was not in abundance on Earth, was Adam and Eve.

Now think about this one thing. God is helping thousands of people every second right now. Do you think you are the only one he is thinking about and helping? God is loving every human on this earth right now. He is wooing all the unbelievers right now that have not turned their hearts to stone, God is helping you and thousands of people to reach their full potential and purpose in Him. God is enjoying the worship of us on earth and those of angels in heaven. This list of things that He is doing every second of our timeline is more than we can ever know. Why do we try to put God in our little box? Just love Him and worship Him.

The Fourth Day

Sunset Photo by Diana Burbridge

On the fourth day, God made the sun and moon, which replaced the light source of the first day. God tells us how these lights will serve us. They serve us as signs, for seasons, and for days, nights, and years.

I want to make a note here as to something I believe. I believe that God created the sun with age. In my mind, plant life required the sun to be so. I believe the animals were grown and able to bear young. Now, this answers the question of which came first, the chicken or the egg. I use to breed chickens and hatch eggs, so in my mind, I know which came first. Remember, the plants had seeds. Adam and Eve were mature.

God, with a word, created the heavens. Unbelievers, who follow astrological charts, to me slap the creator in the face. They worship and follow the creation and not the Creator.

Beloved, worship your Creator. He knew that you would be alive at this time before He created the earth. God knew He would have to die for you before He created the world. So, Beloved of God, love Him with all your being.

Gensis 1:9-10

Again we see the power of God’s spoken word in verses 9 and 10. The land was gathered into one place and the water into another. Also, God spoke all the vegetation into being.

I wonder if God thought of each plant individually and it appeared or thought of each plant family. Within that family did each plant appear or in the beginning the main plant carried the DNA of all the sub-species? Two of my favorite plants in the same family are the African Violet and the Episcia.

Whatever the case, God controls all things, even the boundaries of the waters. You may think that they don’t during a hurricane. Well hurricanes, like all bad weather, are part of the curse when Adam and Eve sinned. Just like how we now have thorns and underbrush.

Bad weather seems to be increasing. Do you want God to act when there is danger? Do you expect God to speak into the details of your life? Worship Him and have a life of prayer.

These Episcia will grow and become so full and will cover the top of whatever size pot you plant them in. Then they spread downward. These pictures are of baby plants. I just got them. I had one years ago that was over three feet long. It had red flowers.

IN THE BEGINNING

In Genesis 1:1, the word “created” is bara, which means to create out of nothing.

I have mentioned before, that in Genesis 1:2, the word hovering or moving was a verb that denotes emotion. The God of creation loves us. The Spirit of God in His love for us, moved above the water to prepare it for the word of God.

In verse 3 God said, “Let there be light” and there was light. This was not the sun. The sun was created on the fourth day. I don’t know what this light was, but I do know that light is the very essence of God.

In verse 4, we see that God separated the light from the darkness.

In verse 5, we are told that this was one day. so the earth was already on its axis. These are 24-hour days of God’s divine work. If it was 1000 years for one day, as some believe, then the plant life would have died in the night period of 500 years.

I will continue Genesis 1 tomorrow at some point. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow and Friday. May God bless each one of you tomorrow in a special way designed just for you.

His Word

Beloved, in the fullness of His love, speak one to another of His word to instruct, which brings hope and joy.

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Jesus Christ, so that we can do things He planned for us long ago.

This is Shell Waterfall, which takes a 90-degree turn at the bottom of the fall. I was told it followed a fault line. We are a lot like this, in following faulty notions we feel are true. Photo by Diana Burbridge

Hovering With Love

Genesis 1:2 And the earth was formless and void, and the darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving (hovering) over the surface of the waters.

The word, moving or hovering, is a verb that denotes emotion. Some say that this has to do with protection.

As a mother, I believe that if you protect, it means you love what you protect. When I first studied this verse, I thought of the world as a nursery I might prepare for one of my babies. The love that I had when preparing for one of my unborn children.

Here, God protected the earth for His child, man. He did this with love. This love is greater than how we love. God knew even before this time that we would become wicked and He would have to come to earth as Jesus to sacrifice Himself to bring us back to Himself by dying on the cross. There is no greater love.

What To Do Now

There seems to be an increase in severe weather, drought, flooding, and fires. Then we have problems with the transportation of goods and inflation. There is more to this list. As time moves to the last seven years of this time period, these things will become more frequent.

The Bible does say it will rain on the just and the unjust. But I believe that in these areas, there can be pockets of protection. To have these pockets, you want to have God’s attention before you need it. Back in the 90’s, the Lord told me, “What if your blessings of tomorrow, depended on your thankfulness today.” We are the Bride of Christ, so bend your knees and be thankful with every part of your spirit. Worship the Lord, for His love, made a way for us. Worship Him for all the promises he made to us. Worship Him for He is our King.

Mockers

Jude 17-18

Devil’s Tower Photo by Diana Burbridge

Jude 17-18 But beloved, remember ye the words, which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

Jude pleaded with us to remember the teachings of the apostles. Here the Bible talks about mockers in the last days. I believe we are in the last days. Mockers have increased. Christians are put down because we don’t enjoy and join in their ungodly lust. We need to remember that they do not have the Holy Spirit to tell them what is right and wrong. We need to show them love and pray for them, but stay safe. Our voice should show the tenderness of Christ, but remain safe. The closer time becomes to the return of Jesus Christ, the bolder those without the Holy Spirit will become. Stay in prayer and stay safe.
