Verse 14 And the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, Cursed are you more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field, On your belly shall you go, And dust shall you eat all the days of your life.
Verse 15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed. (NAS)
Some may ask why the snake was cursed. It was Satan who entered the snake. It was not the snake’s fault. God did this for a reason. When we look at a snake, we are to remember the temptation and our struggles here on the earth between the human race (her seed) and Satanic and his Satanic forces (between your seed).
Verse 15B He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.” (NAS)
This is speaking of Christ and that He will deal with Satan at the cross (Satan’s head), because of our sin (bruised heel). Satan will cripple the human race but Christ will crush Satan.
Verse 16 To the woman He said, “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth, in pain you shall bring forth children. Yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you. (NAS)
This verse simply states that there will be great pain during childbirth. The Lord blessed me in a special way in birthing my five children. My longest labor was four hours and my shortest was 45 minutes. There was pain but no problems.
The desire for her husband does not mean a sexual desire. Remember, she was the one that urged Adam to sin. So he would now be the master of her, but she would want to be the master of him. Now it is hard to be that helpmate. It is hard to stand alongside each other and be a helpmate. (Read I Peter 3:1-7)
