GENESIS 3:6-7

Verse 6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

Eve deceived herself (I Timothy 2:14). To this day, women still self-deceive themselves. Together, Adam and Eve disobeyed the word of God that He explained. Personal ambition found a place in Eve’s heart. She would have had it all by choosing God’s way and in His timing. Also, personal sin hurts those we love.

Adam ate knowingly. They decided to put their will first when they believed Satan’s lies.

Remember in verse 5, Satan said, “you will be like God.” God shared wisdom with them on their walks but they wanted more. They wanted to be like God. God added this sin, covet, to the Ten Commandments.

Verse 7 The eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

I assumed immediately after eating the fruit, they felt guilty. Probably the glory of God, His out shining, that clothed them and the world left. Leaves do not take the place of a garment of righteousness. They realized that Satan’s words would not come true, but God’s words would come true. They died spiritually.
