Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord. for this is right. Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise). That it may be well with you,m and that you may live long on the earth.
When a child marries, his relationship to his parents change, but not his responsibility to provide for them. (I Timothy 5:4).
We returned last week from visiting my husband’s sister and his mother. His sister showed honor and sweet love to her mother. She realizes that a family is a special gift from God. She is filled with the presence of the Lord which makes it easy to share His love and peace. With God, kindness and peace abounds. Even when she has to speak loudly so her mother could hear her words, there was still a tenderness in her voice.
Your journey with your parents should be pleasing to Christ. He has given you gifts to help you on this journey. Remember, you are covered in the gift of grace. Share your gifts with your family, especially to your parents.
