There is so much sorrow on Facebook. I receive so many requests asking for prayer or telling of those who are ill with a few going to heaven. I understand their pain. I lost my oldest daughter to cancer when she was 14 years old. Also, I lost my mother, father and brother. I want to share how I handle this pain.
When I miss them, I ask Jesus to tell them that I love them and miss them. I am confident that Jesus tells them. He can express my love in a deeper way than I ever could. This gives me so much comfort. It is ok to grieve. Jesus will put your tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8). But we must not stay in that period of grief. We are to be joyful with our hope, Jesus Christ.
When we desire to abide in Christ, He will abide in us as the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that talks to Jesus. Then Jesus discusses our lives with God. A discussion about your prayers and even one word prayers and tears. The times you fell to your knees with tears and could not speak. A time when you did not have the words to speak. But you have the Holy Spirit within you that hears your cries and convey your pain to Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the most precious of all things that we carry through life. The Holy Spirit is the one that gives peace. The Holy Spirit whispers comfort to our spirit. When your loved one passes to heaven, bring honor to them with your actions and glory to God.
People watch how you handle your life through sorrows. Some of these who watch you may come to know Christ. That in itself can bring joy in sorrow. God has allowed me to see this happen many times. What a wonderful gift to carry within you. Mary, the mother of Jesus, treasured things in her heart about Jesus. What precious treasure is in your heart?
